Who: Parents & Youth

When: Feb 21 & 28, 9:30-10:45am

Where: Ellerslie Road Baptist Church -  Library

Widespread use of the internet only started 20 years ago, but the level of complexity has increased at a staggering rate that leaves many intimidated.  This seminar focuses on internet issues of privacy and helping manage temptation.  It is intended for youth who wish to learn how to protect themselves and parents who want to support their childrens’ desire to remain pure.  We will be exploring trends towards an “open source” life (a life where little or nothing is private) as exemplified in sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and more.

Jesus prayed “My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world” (John 17:15-18 [show]John 17:15-18 [15]I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one.(1) [16]They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. [17]Sanctify them(2) in the truth; your word is truth. [18]As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. (ESV) Footnotes 1. [17:15] Or 'from evil' 2. [17:17] Greek 'Set them apart' (for holy service to God)

Hey Everyone,

The registration deadline for YC this year is Feb. 21.  This is not an official Jr. High event (our big spring event is our annual camping trip, yay!), but for those of you interested, be sure to register with Paster Syd by the deadline.

From the YC Website:

“Join us for a great weekend on May 28 – May 30, 2010. The worship, the concerts, and the speakers are all part of three great days. Our prayer this year is that every student who attends would hear what God wants to say to them personally and to see them mobilized for His purposes. Our theme is AUDACIOUS and I believe this generation has the audacity to live out Gods call on their lives like never before.

Mike Love
YC Director”

The guys will be having a floor hockey tournament while the girls enjoy a day at the spa. And while all of this happening there will be games, movies and a concession just in case you get bored. We will also be having lunch together and then heading off to a movie in Leduc because we rented the whole theater. Don’t miss it! The day starts at 10:30am here at the church and ends back at the church at 7:00pm. Cost is $12.
